On Monday, June 30, 2025, at 7:00 pm, Quartz Studio is pleased to present Wurzelkinder, the first solo show in Turin by the Italian artist Lorenzo Aceto (Pescara, Italy, 1985).
The title of the exhibition – explains the artist – is taken from the children’s book Etwas von den Wurzelkinder, which can be translated as ‘Something About the Root Children’. It is a fairy tale from the early 20th century, written and illustrated by Sibylle von Olfers, telling the story of children who live underground during the winter and, with the arrival of spring, come out into the light to bring with them insects, flowers, and fruits, before returning to the womb of the earth in autumn. I found this image evocative and in harmony with my work, which is deeply connected to the earth as a generative and regenerative element. An earth that welcomes, transforms, and absorbs, where figures blend together, shifting from subject to object.
